nice to meet you

I’M RENÉE!

I am a Certified Wedding/ Event Planner under the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. I am a highly organized, flexible, motivated and extroverted ADHD girlie who loves a challenge! From themed parties, family gatherings, showers, and more, I have always had a passion and a natural born skill for planning and organizing events. It wasn’t until I planned my own wedding in 2020 that I developed a passion for wedding planning and coordinating. My only regret for my wedding was not hiring a day-of-coordinator. If I had someone navigating all the changes and guidelines, especially with Covid-19 restrictions, my day would have been even more enjoyable and less stressful. So it got me thinking… Why not professionally educate myself and become the person that people can lean on to plan and/or run their event?! With the encouragement and support from my family, friends, and vendors in the wedding industry, I decided to take the leap and offer my own wedding and event planning + coordinating services.

I truly understand how overwhelming it can be to plan a wedding or event, especially for those of you who have never done this before; thus, not knowing where to even start. I know just how important the little details are. As previous clients can attest, I am very passionate on fully grasping each client’s unique visions and then advocating for them to get what they want. Since 2020, I have learned (and continuously learn) so many tips and tricks of the trade to ensure a successful + positive wedding/ event planning and coordinating experience.

When I’m not wedding planning, coordinating, or decorating I work part time as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital and a full-time mom to my son. I enjoy spending time with my husband and toddler, playing soccer + hockey, and going for bike rides.

I am pretty easy going, great with adapting to last minute changes, and I tend to get along with everyone! So if that’s what you’re looking for, I’m your gal!

Common Questions I Get Asked

  • When it comes to wedding roles, a planner and a coordinator each have their own distinct functions. A wedding planner assumes the role of a decision-maker, guiding you through every aspect of the event. They help in conceptualizing themes, managing budgets, arranging vendors, and actively shaping the wedding from start to finish. Conversely, a wedding coordinator's primary task is to ensure that the plans you've envisioned are seamlessly implemented on the day itself, overseeing logistics and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Ivory events offers both of these services! No need to hire two different individuals for these services.

  • A venue coordinator is only responsible for the venue itself. They are not responsible for creating a detailed timeline of your day, setting and taking down your decor, or coordinating with all of your vendors. As a wedding coordinator, I would work alongside the venue coordinator. It is my job to work with your vendors to create a detailed wedding day timeline and over see the execution of everything going according to plan on your wedding day!

  • Yes! if I am available for your date, I will start working closely with you and coordinating with your vendors a month before your wedding day in order to create a detailed timeline to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible. I will then oversee the execution of that plan on your wedding day.

  • In our honest opinion that doesn’t really exist. Giving someone total control over your wedding day (the day of) might sound great, but isn't it better if the person making your dreams a reality actually knows what you want and has taken the time to connect with your other vendors? Starting at least one month before wedding day allows us time to understand your vision, connect with your vendors, help with final timeline details, and more. Doing so, allows us to show up on your wedding day prepared to turn your vision into a reality! That is why we have included the “month before” within our Day of Coordination Package.

  • There are three things you need to know before you start planning and booking vendors for your wedding.

    1. Decide on a budget. Ideally expect to spend around $100.00-$200.00 per gust you invite to your wedding. This is highly dependent on where you live.

    2. Decide on a guest list. Really take the time to decide who you want to be present on your day. It helps talking to parents about extended family members. In the end it is your day and you get to decide.

    3. Once you know approximately your guest count and your budget you can move forward with finding and selecting a venue for your ceremony/ reception that fits bth your personalities and visions you have for wedding day!

    4. Bonus! You hire Ivory events to help navigate you through this stessful process to ensure your day is as exactly as you want it. We are there to make sure your vision is turned into a realit without being influenced by others opinions of how your day should pan out.

  • In my opinion, sticking to your budget! There are so many trends and online influences these days for weddings that make couples feel like you have to have it all. Hire me and I’ll not only help you create a budget fit for you and your partner; but help you stick to it! With my experience and contacts I can find you the best bang for your buck.

  • It takes the average couple 200-250 hours to plan their own wedding. where it only takes an experienced wedding coordinator up to 70 hours.

  • Celebrating your Love and commitment to each other! Your day should reflect your love and be exactly how you want to celebrate it. try not to stress about others opinions on what your day should play out.

  • I hear way too many future couples say how excited they are just to get the wedding over with because they’re so stressed and overwhelmed with the planning process. That makes me so sad because it should be fun and stress-free. I want you to be able to enjoy your engagement and one of the most important days of your life with zero stress! My job is to take care of everything behind the senes (coordinating with all your vendors and ensuring everything runs according to your vision and timeline) so you can be present with your partner, family and friends. Another reason to hire a planner and/or coordinator is to make sure no wedding responsibilities fall on any of your friends or family members last minute because it is a lot of work. This way they can fully be present as well. Let me leave you with this… Why spend all that money on vendors if you’re going to be stressed on your wedding day and not be able enjoy any of it?

Still not convinced? Just ask my past couples :)!
